Salman Rushdie

"A poet's work is to name the unnamable, to point at frauds, to take sides, start arguments, shape the world and to stop it from going to sleep."

Salman Rushdie

WHY A CAGED BIRD SINGS?

WHY A CAGED BIRD SINGS?

Who knows the answer of why
This bird sings inside a cage
In a melody not of wry
Not of rage
But of joy?

It’s not only me who wants to know
Too my beloved mate
Is it the hope that it sings
Or is it the submission
To its inescapable fate?
